Greek justice and internet in 2006
At first the “enlightened” minds of the members of the greek parliament came up with the idea to ban even computer games in an attempt to deal with electronic gambling (we are talking of course about “illegal” gambling in contrast to “legal” gambling, which is organised and run by the state itself!). Of course we laughed at them as did the rest of the world, as everyone outside Greece was making fun of the ignorance of Greek politicians who blissfully live in a technological Middle Age.
Fortunately after the fuss no one faced any problems (from what I know at least) and a couple of weeks ago I read that the goverment is ready to withdraw that stupid ban. Oh what a joy!!! People are coming to their senses at last!
Or so I thought. Yesterday we found out that the administrator of an RSS aggregating service (http://blogme.gr) got arrested and jailed after being sued for linking a blog with allegedly offending content…WTF??? How stupid can someone be to sue the administrator of such a site? And more important, how ignorant, uneducated and stupid are the people who actually ordered the arrest of that person?
I really wonder how this is going to end…

[*] Άγχος να τελειώσουν οι δουλειές πριν το Πάσχα. Αεροπλάνα, καφέδες, μπύρες, ξενύχτια, φαγητό. Αμέσως μετά επιστροφή και προσαρμογή. Λίγες μέρες με ήλιο τις οποίες εδώ πρέπει να εκμεταλλεύεσαι μιας και είναι σπάνιες! Κοινώς εδώ πιάσαμε αράχνες!
